Bayfront Park

“Park” is a bit of a stretch here—we can’t think of any other nature preserves that have a Hard Rock Café and a few Carnival cruise ships in view.

This 32-acre green space in Downtown Miami boasts plenty of palm trees, a respectable fountain, and even a sandy stretch along Biscayne Bay. Due to the not-infrequent hurricane weather and sweltering heat, this isn’t the kind of park to sit and read a book in, but it is a decent spot to go for a stroll and work up an appetite for another mojito. It’s just south of Bayside Marketplace, a semi-outdoor mall that was featured heavily in Miami Vice, and AmericanAirlines Arena, home to the Miami Heat. And a bonus, not-particularly-fun (but still interesting) fact: the mayor of Chicago was assassinated here in 1933 while shaking hands with FDR.

Best things to see at Bayfront Park

Klipsch Amphitheater

With a seating capacity of 7,500, a schedule of events that boasts some of the most well-known names in the music industry, and the aqua blue waters of Biscayne Bay glittering in the background, Klipsch Amphitheater certainly doesn’t hold back when it comes to putting on top-notch performances. Grab some lawn tickets and a blanket and settle in to enjoy a show under the balmy Miami sky.

Bayside Marketplace

Have you ever shopped for souvenirs while the ocean laps at the sand only a few feet away? While Bayside Marketplace has your run-of-the-mill shops if you’re in a pinch for a swimsuit, it is also home to many Miami originals. This is a great little shopping area to buy a unique souvenir to remember your trip or to refuel with a sip of coffee and a view.
