If you’re a thrill seeker, try one of many iconic rides at Coney Island. The legendary Coney Island Cyclone roller coaster can’t be missed, and if you can believe it, opened in June of 1927. If you’re looking for great views without so much speed and adrenaline, ride Deno’s Wonder Wheel for some great views of Brooklyn and New York City. The Wonder Wheel is along the Boardwalk in Coney Island, which has smaller rides, shops, and food along the beach. If you’re looking for something educational, head to the only aquarium in New York City, located in Coney Island. The New York Aquarium boasts over 100 species, rotating special exhibits, a 4-D theatre, and education programs for kids.

Best way to get to Coney Island

While the trip might take awhile, the train might be the easiest and cheapest way to get to Coney Island. The Q and F lines will take you all the way there and drop you right off at the park’s entrance. If you’re looking to drive, head towards Brooklyn and take Ocean Parkway all the way down the island.

Parking can be found near the MCU stadium. You can also try parking in the neighborhoods nearest to subway parking lots.

How intense are the rides?

If you’re worried the rides will be too scary or not extreme enough, rest assured Coney Island has a sweet-spot for you. Coney Island has a few different ticket categories so that daredevils and scaredy cats alike can enjoy the park.


Is the beach nice?

While not too many people go swimming, a few people seem to be willing. Either way, the boardwalk is a beautiful walk and the sand is clean and soft.


Can I bring pets?

While pets are not allowed on the sand from September through April, leashed pets are allowed at the boardwalk the whole year.
